As a CLAHRC, we have a remit to engage with industry as part of the innovation, health and wealth agenda. Our approach is informed both by the local Greater Manchester context and the recommendations made in the NIHR Office for Clinical Research Infrastructure (NOCRI) review of CLAHRCs’ industry engagement.
In developing our industry engagement strategy, we’ve assessed how best any work with industry fits with the nature of our CLAHRC, its themes of work, our existing relationships with our partners, and the Greater Manchester context within which the CLAHRC operates.
We aim to identify and exploit opportunities to collaborate with industry across our programme, where this aligns with our strategic objectives and brings additional value and impact to our existing and future programmes of work.
We do not engage with industry unless we are approached directly by an interested potential partner. However, we do work with industry through its links with our academic, NHS and third sector partners. We will explore any potential industry collaborations identified via Greater Manchester Academic Health Science Network (GM AHSN) and their Innovation Nexus, which aims to help industry to do business with the NHS.
The Innovation Nexus brings together information and resources to help guide companies through the complexity of working with the NHS, and enable access to expertise and specialist services offered directly or via Innovation Nexus Associates, as well as highlighting funding opportunities.
Any enquiries around potential collaborations between the NIHR CLAHRC Greater Manchester and industry should be directed to Joanne Thomas, Engagement and Networks Manager. Alternatively, read more about our current partners and the ways you can get involved in the CLAHRC.
